A RARE MOULDED, LACQUERED AND CARVED JAPANESE SWORD STAND 'KATANA KAKE',
mid 19th century, the back-board carved in imitation of Mount Fuji (the 'snow' originally silvered now tarnished to black), dark russet lacquer ground with gold fleck and with cranes flying to the fore-ground, gilded peaks to the remaining mountains in the vista, the reverse similar but with forests and without the cranes, the sides with staggered hooks for three swords and moulded feet with gilded bevels and engraved metal mounts
